A thin and large aeroshell technology has been proposed for an innovative reentry capsule. We are investigating aerodynamic instability and mitigation methods using coupled analysis approach.

Aerodynamic simulation for Hayabusa-type reentry capsule
Hayabusa-type sample return capsule (SRC) is a candidate for use in future sample return missions. However, the SRC has aerodynamic instability in the transonic region. We are also investigating the instability by using high performance computer and computational science approaches for its mitigation.
